What’s New in Children’s Music Classes this week?

Piano handsSandie Goldstein is just one of a handful of the incredible talent you will witness in the Bethany Music Education Program geared toward a mom and me infant class and elementary students, unique to Howard County. A junior in Towson University’s Music Education program, studying Vocal Music Education, who better than Ms. Goldstein to teach elementary students the fundamentals of musical expression? She plans to focus first on development of healthy singing skills by practicing vocal warmups so the aspiring singers do not strain their voices. Taking deep breaths, sighing, making siren noises, and trilling their lips to ascending scales are the first skills Goldstein will teach her class.

Ms. Goldstein is teaching at Bethany as a part of her own aspirations to become a music educator. Her current studies include training in music theory, vocal skills, and music history as well as curriculum development and classroom management. Sandie’s career intentions are to instruct choral music at a public elementary or middle school. She is a member of the Towson Tiger Tones A Capella group and Towson University Chorale, as well as the Towson University student chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Sandie is excited to share of her love of music with the students and families of Bethany Music Center!
